Winter Masters Run

The new centralised start for all Sunday Club Runs at Thornes Park Denby Dale Car Park Wakefield has seen a surge in attendance for the Masters Rides. Despite low temperatures and a piercing wind, 11 cyclist were out for the run to Squires at Newthorpe.

The photograph above shows the group about one mile into the return leg about to pass under the bridge over the old A1 with a pleasant ride through woodland scenery – where the photo below was taken – to Ledsham village ahead of them.

Calder Doyens George and Jimmy can be seen during their long stint on the front. A number of riders peeled off for home as the run approached Heath Common Wakefield and the rest split between a group going to the Jaguar-Velo event at Hatfield Jaguar on Denby Dale Road and the remainder who had a pint at Harry’s bar foremost on their minds.
