Calder Clarion Cycling Club Members Code Of Conduct
Club rides are meant to be sociable and enjoyable, while helping members develop fitness, skill, and stamina. Everyone must take responsibility for their own safety and the safety of others. To keep our rides safe and fun, we ask all members to follow these basic rules and standards of cycling etiquette.
Members must adhere to principles of fairness, inclusion, sportsmanship, and respect, and conduct themselves respectfully at all club events, both cycling and non-cycling. Representing the club includes any time you are at a club ride, race, event, or wearing club apparel. Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated, including but not limited to:
- Physical abuse of any person or property.
- Use of foul language or obscene gestures.
- Malicious actions that endanger others.
- Non-consensual physical contact, bullying, unwanted sexual advances, or other inappropriate behavior.
- Hostile, abusive, harassing, or discriminatory conduct.
- Any conduct that brings the club into disrepute or reflects poorly on cycling.
- Safety First
- Always wear a helmet and appropriate safety gear.
- Ensure your bike is in good working condition before each ride.
- Follow all traffic laws
- Use highway code hand signals to indicate turns and stops
- Respect and Courtesy
- Be respectful and courteous to all road users, including pedestrians, motorists, and fellow cyclists.
- Avoid using offensive language or gestures.
- Yield to pedestrians and give them the right of way.
- Inclusivity and Support
- Welcome new members and help them feel included.
- Offer assistance to fellow cyclists in need, whether it’s a mechanical issue or a health concern.
- Encourage a positive and supportive atmosphere within the club.
- Personal Responsibility
