Our normal guided cycle ride will be 13 miles and is part of the event.
Entry is £3 and everyone that completes the route will get a t-shirt and goody bag as do those doing the walk. With Wakefield Cycle Forum we will be guiding cyclists around the course at a steady pace, so there’s no need to worry about getting lost or falling behind the group. It’s the perfect opportunity to see two of our most popular country parks and take in some of the areas you might not have discovered yet.
The Event is part of the Love Where You Live message, a national campaign led by Keep Britain Tidy, set up to inspire, encourage and enable everyone to do something to improve where they live and bring pride back to local communities.
Wakefield Council is getting behind the campaign to engage with residents and empower them to improve their local environment and have pride in their community.
If you want to you can get sponsored to take part in the event to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, the official charity for the incoming Mayor. The charity provide a life-saving rapid response emergency service to 5 million people across Yorkshire and need to raise £7200 each day to keep the service going.
The LWYL Wakefield Walk also provides the opportunity to see some of Wakefield’s beautiful country parks and discover areas you might not have discovered yet.
If you’re new to walking then the fun walk is a gentle 2-mile course around Haw Park Wood or the accessible route around the water at Anglers Country Park. If you’re a seasoned walker or you’re up for more of a challenge, the 13-mile challenge is the course for you.
