The 2014 C2C ride between Roker (Sunderland) and Whitehaven which was to be held in June has been cancelled due to insufficient numbers of volunteers able to provide support and back up for the event.
Michael Vennard is looking at organising a C2C ride in July/August to be run across Yorkshire and Lancashire with mini bus backup and an option to ride part way from the Yorkshire coast to Wakefield for those not wanting to ride the full distance to the Fylde coast.
The proposed route from Flamborough to Glasson Dock will take in the Trough of Bowland, but also give riders not up for the full challenge a chance to duck out at half way, if they wish, as the full route is nearly 150 miles rather than the 130 of the ‘traditional’ route
If there’s enough take-up, the plan will be to run the event in July; it’ll be supported with a mini bus – meaning only one driver necessary – with space for maybe 9 or 10 riders. Clearly, there will be a charge to cover cost of minibus hire and fuel. Michael rough estimate is £30 per head. Contact Michael at michael5@ymail.com
