Calder members were amongst the gathering of Clarion members from across the UK who were welcomed at a civic reception by the Lord Mayor of Shrewsbury at the beginning of the National Clarion Easter Meeting. Highlights included a mass ride to the Industrial Revolution birthplace ,
Ironbridge,a dinner with guest speaker Adrian Timmis with a programme of racing and other events, including a guided tour of Shrewsbury Castle.
The organizers clinched the chance to get a special Guest of Honour, Adrian Timmis for the dinner and prize presentation, Adrian rode for Cannock Chase Clarion in the late 70’s. He competed in the Tour de France, Olympic Games and World Championships on the road, track and mountain bike. He is now a sports masseur for the Great Britain Mountain Bike Team. This winter Adrian won the British V40 Cyclo Cross Champs even finishing 11th in the senior elite event the following day.
