The local Belgian fans of Oudenarde were delighted with the result of the 2009 Tour of Flanders won by Stign Devolder after a dominant display. For the Calder members, the trip was slightly strange as their favourite hotel, with it’s quirky, typically Belgian decor and ambience, not to mention excellent local food at reasonable prices had been transformed into something resembling a Western film set, with the dining room now a steak house and guests and diners clad in cowboy boots and Stetsons.
The weekend passed without any incident involing loss of cycles, neither through theft nor falling from cars so a success there.
