‘Have a Go’ Cyclo Cross & BBQ

Open Cyclo Cross events for children and adult beginners

Sunday 17th July

This event continues the successful format of last years racing and socialising meeting then held at Thomas a Beckett Academy for youngsters and adults from any club. This time the event is at the Scout Camp on the A636 Denby Dale Road South West of Wakefield (Location).

Some of the events are ”come and try”, which proved popular last year and there is a BBQ again.

Organiser Martin Price is hoping the meeting will attract most cyclists from Calder including the Sunday Club runs terminating their rides at the venue.

Last year many stayed to watch and cheer on the children and adults in their races. It fosters a great sense of team fellowship and is also great fun to take part in.

“Everyone is welcome – even if you just want to watch or find out more about Calder Clarion and the Go-Ride children’s club.

“We ask that all participants bring their own bike in good condition and also wear a helmet. We look forward to seeing some new faces as well as those who are already well-established within the club.”

The event details are:

  • Sunday 17 July from noon – cyclocross event at Scout Camp, West Bretton. Participants will complete a single lap time trial, followed by a multi-lap race within different age categories. These two results will count towards the overall series winner of the Track and Turf 2016 series. This is followed by a mixed relay event. Registration takes place from noon with first race at 12.30pm
