Barry Hoban was the Guest of Honour at the 2017 Easter Meet hosted by the Mercure Chester Abbots Well Hotel in Chester from the 14th to 17th April.
Chester has been home to a National Clarion Easter meet many times before but not since 1946.
Calder Clarion had a number of winners at the presentation night.
Doug James won the under 12 CycloCross and points competitions.
Chris James won the veterans CycloCross and senior trophy
Calder Clarion won the award for the most attendees at the Easter meet. This award was picked up by Jean Burton.
All the awards were presented by Barry Hoban, who is a Calder life member.
The weekend started on Friday evening with sign in, ribbon collection, and informal get together in the hotel bar.
Saturday’s events included the Conference (AGM), a Trip to Chester Zoo and City centre sight-seeing with a short ride. Saturday evening saw get together and buffet in the hotel.
On Sunday there was a 10 mile time trial and a choice of rides including up to 30 miles; 30-50 miles; over 50 miles. Alternatively for those not wishing to cycle guided walks are available.
The prize presentation was held on Sunday evening with a 3 course meal in the hotel.
