C Club Rides

Meet at Thornes Park Car Park, Denby Dale Road.

Rides begin at 8:30am in summer and 9:00am in winter (usually ties in with BST).

What to expect

These rides are not suitable to those new to cycling or occasional leisure cyclists. No one will get abandoned but riders can get dropped particularly on mixed terrain. If this happens the group will wait and regroup.

Speed

Average speed is 13 to 15 mph (21 to 24 kmph) depending on the terrain.

Distance

Rides typically cover 30 to 75 miles (50 to 120 km)

If you find the pace too high please SPEAK UP so the speed can be adjusted or the route altered to get you home safely.

Important!

Please do not underestimate the fitness required to ride in a a group at 13 to 15 mph (21 to 24 kmph).

We do ask all those planning to participate in any of the rides to read the group riding technique page.

Your Safety

You are responsible for your individuals take part in any group activities safety, at their own risk. Calder Clarion and its members accept no responsibility for the safety of anyone participating in group rides and runs, and no liability in the event of an accident.

Group Riding Technique

It is important that all those planning to participate in a ride read the group riding technique page  and make themselves familiar with the key points this covers. This will help ensure everyone enjoys the ride to the maximum. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask either the club captains or a more experienced member of the group – they will be happy help and give you any guidance you need. 

Insurance

We strongly encourage members to take advantage of the National Clarion’s reduced cost CTC 3rd party insurance or make similar insurance arrangements for example with British Cycling.
